This thesis investigates one-to-many problems in interactive AI systems, where multiple valid outputs exist for a given input. It explores methods for learning and predicting diverse responses across NLP applications (smart reply, text-based games) and computer vision (medical image segmentation), demonstrating how explicitly modelling this diversity leads to more effective human-AI interaction.
